Plainville, MA According to Maugel Architects, construction has begun on Sturdy Memorial Hospital’s new 30,000 s/f medical office building at the intersection of Rtes. 106 and 152.  The $8.8 million new facility will provide the community with a Sturdy Memorial Urgent Care center, patient services, and physician services in OB/GYN and primary care.

The new two-story medical office building, designed by Maugel, will replace an existing one-story structure that was razed to make way for the new facility. Maugel worked closely with Sturdy Memorial to design a modern environment that maximizes clinical space and provides clear wayfinding for patients and visitors. Particular attention was given to creating efficient workflows tailored to physician working patterns and to providing seamless care to patients.

“It was a pleasure to work with the team at Sturdy Memorial on the new medical facility for Plainville,” said Colby Cavanagh, project manager at Maugel Architects. “Providing access to high quality healthcare at the local level is essential to strength of the community. Sturdy’s new medical office building will be a wonderful asset for the Plainville area.”

Other team members include Equity Alliance, LLC and Dellbrook | JKS Construction. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
