Jennifer Marks, LS, Executive Director Survey Services, Principal at BL Companies

How many years have you been in your current field? 37 years

What is the best leadership advice you have ever received? Who was it from? A leader needs to create the vision, a clear concept of where you want to go, which will be the cornerstone of the team’s success. Creating the vision requires courage and accountability at the highest level and starts with you. With clarity of vision and purpose you and your team will be able to handle constant and rapid change. This advice comes from our CEO/President Carolyn Stanworth – the Construction Institute Champion of Change honoree.

What are you planning to do differently in 2020 to have a positive impact on your career? We are very focused on succession planning at BL Companies. As an ESOP we have a duty to prepare the next level of leadership in order to provide for the future of the company and all its employees. Mentoring, developing staff, and providing opportunities for our future leaders’ growth and development is a priority.
