2022 Ones to Watch: Krista Manna, Owner of KR Architecture & Interiors

June 10, 2022 - Spotlights

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? Cannabarn in Abington. It is a cannabis business here in Abington. After doing the original architectural drawings we’ve been contracted to work on the interior finishes, which will be a unique addition to our town. Also we’ve done several age-in-place projects recently allowing not only older folks to be able to stay in their home longer but also to allow them to be closer to family. In one case we helped to have more family available in the home to watch a young child with special needs.

What does it take to succeed in your specific industry? Tenacity and patience! Our industry is like running a marathon. Training and mindset/determination will get you to your greater goal but it won’t happen overnight so you need to have patience knowing that one step at a time will eventually get you there.

What led you to your current profession? As early as age six, I had an interest in designing. I drew floor plans for fun when I was a child. One of my favorite pastimes in the fall was to go outside and create floor plans from leaves, and “play house.” I also drew floor plans of furniture in my room, and re-arranged furniture periodically. In high school I worked for my grandfather, Bill Zautner, who was a developer. I helped him pour sidewalks, picked up shingles, sweep the sites – and get a good concept of what is involved in construction. I was intrigued at an early age.

What are the top 3 items on your bucket list? Traveling to see the Sydney Opera House & Glacier National Park, and owning 80-100 rental units by age 50.

What are you doing when you aren’t working? Gardening, taking care of my chickens, making soap, knitting, crocheting, camping, skiing and playing chauffeur to my two kids.
