2023 Year in Review: George Malakidis,
Callahan Construction

George Malakidis, CPHB
Project Executive
Callahan Construction

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2023? Our most notable project of 2023 was the completion and full build out of Revolution Labs for our client at Greatland Realty Partners. It was a very successful project for all stakeholders and an impressive feat to lease out and build out all tenant fitups between the end of 2022 and 2023.

How has your career path changed in 2023? The life sciences market is slowing down and deals will be harder to perfect over the next year or so, I am grateful to work for a company that is diversified in our project portfolio between the multi-family, life science, assisted living and student housing markets.

What emerging trends will drive investment and development in 2024? There are still deals that are ready to be developed in the market. We are starting to see reductions in subcontractor pricing and more labor availability in the market which should start to drive prices lower, coupled with potential lowering of interest rates in 2024, we are hopeful for these deals to come to fruition in the later half of 2024.
