How do you balance your rising career with your personal life? Being present. When working, I focus fully on the task at hand. When with my family, I am fully present on being with them and devoted to making the most of our time together. These are precious years that I will never get back with my sons (ages 5 and 3), and I am not serving anyone well (my clients, my wife, or my kids) if I am only partially focused.

Outside of your career, where else do you seek continuous learning and personal growth? I am a big history buff. I believe in the quote often attributed to Mark Twain: “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” By better understanding our past, we can take active steps to improve the future. The challenges we face may feel insurmountable at times. People have suffered through difficult situations (often tougher than ours) and found innovative and productive ways to be successful. History reminds us that we can do the same.
