2024 Ones to Watch - Rising Stars: Brendan Mota, Rockland Trust Bank

Brendan Mota
AVP, Commercial Loan Officer
Rockland Trust Bank

“Brendan’s drive and enthusiasm are contagious and rub off on the rest of the Rockland Trust team. He always puts the customer and the bank first, doing what’s best for both. While less tenured than other lenders at the bank, his knowledge and consistency make him a true leader.” - Greg O’Donnell, SVP, Marketing Manager – Commercial Banking at Rockland Trust Bank.

In the last 12 months what accomplishment are you most proud of? My role is all about building relationships and I’m very proud of what my customers have had to say about working with me. I had a testimonial read aloud by the CEO at the All-Employee Meeting and another customer sent a note to the Executive Leadership Team thanking me for my efforts on a complex construction loan. Instead of being thought of as someone who only facilitates transactions, my customers can think of me as part of their team.

Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success? Having a mentor is paramount. I recognized early in my career that I would benefit from aligning myself with colleagues who would challenge me and present me with opportunities. Leaders like Brian Griffin and other senior staff from both the credit and lending teams have done a great job of setting me up for success. I hope that one day I’m in a position to return the favor.
