What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? There are so many different opportunities in the industry. From working in the office to being out in the field. There is always a new project and you are learning new things every day. You are learning as you go, and it never makes the day boring.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Patience, a sense of humor, and confidence go a long way. Construction can be male-dominated, so there will be moments when you need to speak up, push back, and trust your expertise. Developing a thick skin is important, but so is knowing when to stand your ground professionally. Stay authentic, keep learning, and don’t be afraid to challenge assumptions.
Share one fun or unexpected detail about yourself that colleagues might not know. I volunteer at a local animal shelter on weekends, it’s rewarding and a great change of pace!
