The most meaningful part of my journey has been working with leaders who champion my development and hold me to a high standard, not because I’m a woman, but because I’m capable. You belong here. Your voice, perspective, and skillset are needed, and there is room at the table for you.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? I entered construction in my mid-30s and felt completely out of place at first. What I didn’t realize was that, starting at the “ground floor,” gave me the freedom to learn without pressure. So I listened, attended every meeting I could, and asked countless questions. Curiosity became my greatest asset. You’ll find people who genuinely want to mentor and support you; lean into them. The industry is evolving, and you are part of that change. Stay curious. It will pay off!
