AHSC and Peabody complete $29m renovation of Powdermill Village
Westfield, MA In a joint venture with Peabody Properties, Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative, Inc. (AHSC), a nonprofit organization that owns and develops affordable rental communities, completed a $29 million renovation project at Powdermill Village Apartments at 126 Union St.
AHSC is a member of the owner entity of Powdermill Village Apartments; Peabody Properties serves as the management company for the apartment complex.
The multi-phase project encompassed both interior and exterior renovation to the 248-unit apartment complex. All apartments have been upgraded with new cabinetry, counters, kitchen appliances, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and bathroom fixtures and finishes, in addition to window and door replacements, new community spaces and parking lot improvements.
“Undergoing a renovation project of this size can be challenging in normal times, not to mention during a pandemic,” said Michael Mattos, president/executive director of AHSC. “We were able to overcome any challenges along the way and are delighted to announce completion of upgrades to better serve all present and future residents at Powdermill Village Apartment.”
“Preserving affordability while providing major upgrades were at the heart of this major project,” said Betsy Collins, vice president of development at Peabody Properties. “Both AHSC and Peabody Properties are committed to offering high quality affordable housing that residents can take pride in.”
