AlliedCook Construction, one of northern New England's premier construction management firms, participated in the recent groundbreaking ceremony for a new oncology patient-centered medical home for New England Cancer Specialists.
The groundbreaking was held October 31, at the site of the new facility located at 2 Independence Dr. in Kennebunk, just off Exit 25. The ceremony included remarks from Dr. Tracey Weisberg, president of New England Cancer Specialists; Alex Wajer, staff assistant to Susan Collins; and Kennebunk town manager, Barry Tibbetts. The 15,000 s/f medical home will bring world-class treatment to York County with its technology and advanced architectural design.
Features of the one-story, wood-framed building include a spacious treatment room employing the latest technology for administering chemotherapy, exam rooms, laboratory, a pharmacy and dispensing program, and advanced tele-conferencing and collaboration capabilities, allowing New England Cancer Specialists to provide a broad spectrum of services including genetic counseling, research and financial advocacy.
The new facility is designed with the patient in mind as a place for their medical home. The organization is such that the patient can access a variety of patient care options directly with the utmost ease and limited overlap with other patient treatment spaces, reinforcing New England Cancer Specialists' vision of providing the highest quality of compassionate care though the architecture as well as staff expertise.
The new facility was designed by Whipple | Callender Architects and developed by Bateman Partners, LLC. AlliedCook is serving as the construction manager.
Construction is expected to be completed late spring of 2015.
