Annual TOBY & Industry Awards: The Oscars of property management - To be held November 14th at the Westin Copley Place hotel

Over 550 members of the real estate industry will gather on Thursday November 14th at the Westin Copley Place hotel for the BOMA Boston TOBY & Industry Awards. Known as the Oscars of property management, this annual event recognizes the best and brightest in property management, building operations, and service in the real estate industry. This year 26 Boston buildings entered into the nationally recognized The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) award competition in a variety of categories separated by either square feet or building type (historical, renovated, etc.). The nomination process consists of a building submission packet and a building tour, both of which are judged by committees of BOMA Boston members. Areas of focus in the judging process include building operations, energy efficiency, and tenant and community relations. Winning a TOBY has a significant positive impact on a building's image in the real estate community, as it reflects exemplary performance from ownership to management. In addition to the TOBYs, BOMA Boston will be honoring Mark Tassinari, executive vice president and partner at CBRE | New England, with the Executive of the Year Industry Award, the highest honor given out on the evening for an individual. Other Industry Awards presented will include: Property Manager of the Year (high/mid/low-rise), Engineer of the Year, Executive Engineer of the Year, Affiliate Member of the Year, and Affiliate Company of the Year. All of these recipients, along with the TOBY Awards, will be announced on the day of the awards. Sponsorships and tickets are still available! Please visit our website at www.bomaboston.org for more information. What are the BOMA TOBY Awards? The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards is BOMA's annual recognition of excellence in the field of property management. Started in 1985, the TOBY Awards we know today actually only recognized office buildings (The acronym used to stand for The Office Building of the Year). Since then, building categories have expanded to include all building types, including government buildings, lab buildings, industrial office parks, and the Earth Award among others. Since its modest beginnings, participation in the TOBY Awards has tripled as it has become one of the premier annual events in the real estate industry. Participation in the TOBY Awards takes place at three different levels - local, regional and international. Only local TOBY Award winners can submit to regional competition, and only regional winners can advance onto international competition. In 2014, BOMA Boston will be hosting the MAC Conference at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf. The conference will take place from Sunday, March 31 - Tuesday, April 1 and will bring together members from 16 BOMA locals for networking, educational seminars, and will conclude with the regional TOBY Awards dinner. Sponsorships and conference tickets are available - please visit www.bomaboston.org for more information.
