As we progress through October, trends are turning all around

Hello again. In what I hope becomes a trend, this marks two months in a row with nice weather while I am writing this. After several running months of rain, I am hoping to turn the trend around. And as we progress through the month of October, trends are turning all around.
Perhaps the biggest "turn" we see here in New England this time of year is the turn of the foliage. The thick, lush, green canopies that have blanketed New England slowly begin to turn beautiful shades of red, yellow, and orange. Next up, the leaves fall to the ground blanketing property across the region. And just as sure that this will happen every year, you'll need to "turn" your attention.
Landscaping activities have shifted from grass cutting and bed maintenance to leaf cleaning and winter preparation. Out with the mowers and in with the leaf collectors. No more spreading fertilizer, next up, spreading salt.
Along with the outside, it is important to have the inside of your properties ready for winter as well. Heating equipment should be inspected to make sure that it will be ready to handle what the upcoming season may have in store.
Winter, we all know it's coming. Will you be ready? Annnnnnd speaking of being ready...
On October 10th we held a new awards program. "The Best of the Best" highlighted properties in our area that stand out above others. It was hel at 960 Main St. in downtown Hartford.
On November 19th we will be have a program entitled, "What's Happening in Your Town" that will highlight current projects going on in 3 different area towns (East Hartford, Glastonbury, and West Hartford). We are extremely excited to be holding this event at a new venue, Goodwin College in East Hartford from 7:30- 9:30 a.m.
And of course December will be our Annual Holiday Social.
Please check in on our website at http://www.bomahartford.org/ for information on all of the great programs I have listed as well as any other information you may need regarding our local chapter and links to BOMA International.
Dues invoices have been mailed out for 2014, so please be sure to do some of the future planning and make sure you have them included in your budget. And as I have mentioned, we have big plans for 2014. Please consider bringing in a prospective member or someone else from your company to some of our events.
If you are not a member, please give some consideration to attending one of our events. (Of course our members should always consider attending) and checking us out. We are always looking for new members.
