Windsor, CT The suburban Hartford luxury residential apartment market will soon be getting a major boost as construction work is progressing on the 130-unit Windsor Station development project.  Presently being constructed by The Associated Construction Company for Lexington Partners, Windsor Station represents the latest twist in the trend towards development of greener, transit-oriented residential communities. Located proximate to the train station, the development is designed to take advantage of improvements to the high speed rail transportation infrastructure that will soon be servicing towns up and down the Springfield to New Haven rail corridor.

The project’s significant contribution to the “greening” of Connecticut is not limited solely to the environmental benefits derived from its residents’ utilization of mass transit, however. Located on the site of a former town public works garage facility and dump site, Associated spearheaded brownfield remediation efforts on the property prior to commencement of construction.

Scheduled to come online by the end of this year, the Windsor Station project is comprised of two buildings housing 130 units, and consists of a mix of studios, one and two-bedroom apartments. The complex abuts a bike trail/walking path and recreational pond.  Amenities in the facility will include a fitness center, large bike storage room, electric car charging station, community room and dog park designed to accommodate the demands of not only today’s Millennials, but active renters of all generations.

There are signs that the Windsor Station project, with its anticipated 200+ tenants, is already acting as a springboard to incentivize other commercial retail development projects in Windsor’s central business district. The project illustrates the significant public benefits that private developers such as Lexington Partners, together with capable construction partners such as Associated, bring in their efforts to improve and enhance downtown communities.
