Atlantic Hospitality sells The Asticou to Ocean Properties

Bar Harbor, ME Atlantic Hospitality has sold The Asticou to Maine-founded Ocean Properties.

Since 1884, The Asticou has welcomed guests to Mount Desert Island. Atlantic Hospitality reopened the property in July 2025 following a year-long restoration.

“We’re proud of the chapter we’ve shaped at The Asticou and the care that has guided this work,” said Tim Harrington, chairman of Atlantic Hospitality. “This moment reflects an exciting next step for a property with such a rich and enduring history. Ocean Properties brings both experience and a deep connection to Maine, and we’re looking ahead with great enthusiasm for what’s to come.”

Atlantic Hospitality and Ocean Properties are working together to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition. The revival of The Asticou was made possible by the dedication and craftsmanship of many partners, tradespeople, and collaborators. Atlantic Hospitality is grateful for the care and expertise that brought this project to life and is actively working through the completion of those commitments as part of this process.

Ocean Properties brings deep hospitality experience and a demonstrated commitment to preserving the history and character of The Asticou. Operations will continue without interruption, and the property will open for the season on May 15.
