BL Companies, Inc. receives Hartford Business Champions Award - Workforce category for 2013

BL Companies, Inc., a professional design firm, received the Hartford Business Champions Award in the Workforce category for 2013. The Hartford Business Champions awards are given by the Hartford Business Journal and the Metro Hartford Alliance and celebrate the achievements of privately-held companies in the Hartford Region. BL Cos. was chosen from among 66 nominees by an independent panel of judges. The nominees represented a diverse group of businesses from around the region. BL was recognized for its workforce practices that include a three-pronged professional development program in the areas of leadership development, project management and technical skills, a year-long Orientation Program and its transparent communications with employees. BL Cos. and its employee owners would like to thank the Hartford Business Journal and the Metro Hartford Alliance for the honor of receiving the Workforce award. "The Workforce award is especially meaningful to us," said Carolyn Stanworth, president and CEO, in her acceptance speech. "It is important to have workforce practices that are consistent with being a 100% employee-owned company and fostering engaged employees."
