BOMA Boston Cup 2012: A drive out to Plymouth

The 2012 BOMA Cup Golf Outing and Barbeque was held on Monday, July 9th. The event was a sell-out for the seventh year in a row, with over 290 golfers participating. It was a perfect day for golf, and the Nicklaus and Jones courses were in pristine condition at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth. Everyone had a great time, and many participants were rewarded for outstanding performances. Congratulations to CCI, Inc. (Jones course) and NAI Hunneman (Nicklaus course) - who took home the BOMA Cups for 2012. This year's tournament also featured a long drive and closest to the pin competitions for both courses, while reviving the putting contest which took place during the reception. BOMA Boston would like to thank everyone who helped make this a great success! BOMA Events Update BOMA's Engineering Committee was also active this month, hosting a "Tech Tour" held on July 19th, at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger in Waltham. Since 1956, SGH has assisted building owners and managers in diagnosing and solving building problems. SGH's president Tom Schwartz led the tour, which featured demonstrations in their 20,000 s/f materials testing laboratories, and a presentation about the latest advancements in energy loss measurement and prevention, and leakage investigation techniques. The tour culminated with a networking reception. The TOBY Awards are right around the corner, and BOMA Boston is taking an active role in providing their members with the best possible guidance as building owners and managers prepare their buildings for submission. BOMA held a TOBY Awards tutorial on Wednesday, July 25th, at their offices. The tutorial featured International Judge Mike Gill of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, as well as representatives of two International Finalist buildings; David Drady and Steve Flagg from the Lincoln Property Company, and Leah Ramirez, Helena Carvalho, and Bob Weadick from Equity Office. The speakers reviewed the submission and judging process, and provided guidance as to what a deserving submission looks like in order to claim this coveted accolade. BOMA Boston will also be holding TOBY Site Tours of 2011 TOBY International Finalists New England Executive Park, of the Suburban Mid-Rise category, and 75 State Street, of the Earth Category. The tours provide property management teams with the chance to observe the finer points of an exceptional TOBY Tour from a judge's point of view.
