BOMA Boston update - The 2018 TOBY and Industry Awards

Boston, MA On October 18th, the BOMA Boston Emerging Professionals hosted a Behind the Scenes tour of the Innovative Design Building in Boston’s Seaport district. The Innovation Design Building is a new hub for ideas, technology, art, and entrepreneurship. The space now features office space for local businesses of all sizes, tasty food vendors, retail spaces, design showrooms, and much more. BOMA members and colleagues from Jamestown guided attendees through the space, showed off their favorite areas of the building and provided some information on both the history and the future of the building. Following the tour, attendees enjoyed a networking reception at Tony C’s Sports Bar and Grille.

The holiday season is an important time for a commercial building to make a great impression to tenants and the community. Join BOMA Boston on November 1st to ring in the season and chat with expert panelists about how to best prep your building for the holidays. A panel of local BOMA members will share their expertise and angle on how to best celebrate the holidays in your building and in our city. The luncheon will be held at Two Center Plaza in Boston with networking beginning at 11:45 AM followed by the program from 12 Noon – 1:30 PM. For folks who have time after the program, BOMA will be holding a quick, fun community service project with Building Impact to support Bridge Over Troubled Waters, BOMA Boston’s Charitable partner.

Each year, the TOBY (The Outstanding Building of The Year) & Industry Awards recognize the best and brightest in property management, building operations and service in the real estate industry. There are 17 categories for TOBY Awards, and 10 categories for the Industry Awards. Since the TOBYs are nationally recognized, the local winners move on to regional competition, and hopefully, international competition. This year’s BOMA Boston TOBY & Industry Awards event will be taking place on November 14th at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel with over 500 in attendance. For more information regarding the event, please visit the BOMA Boston TOBY & Industry Awards website: https://bomatoby2018.weebly.com

BOMA’s partnership with BOMI International remains strong with nine courses scheduled for 2018 in Boston. With the educational offerings, BOMA members and non-members learn from senior professionals in the commercial real estate industry to work towards earning their RPA or FMA designations, or PAC or PMFP certifications. Next up in the series will be a four-day Environmental Health and Safety Issues course running from November 8-16 at the BOMA offices. The course will be instructed by Barry Familetto with Stetson Management & Development Co. For a full list of classes, visit www.BOMAboston.org.
