Boston, MA City Realty, a community-focused real estate development company serving the Greater Boston area since 2004, has donated laptop computers to the Cape Verdean Association of Boston. City Realty’s nonprofit organization, City Kids, is providing these new Google Chromebooks for high school students in the Cape Verdean community who previously did not have a computer at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The local community has been mourning the loss of 17-year old Alissa King, who was killed in Dorchester on April 15^th. As a way to honor her memory and help a devastated community, City Realty managing partner Stephen Whalen donated the laptops after a discussion with Paulo DeBarros, president of the Cape Verdean Association. DeBarros then delivered the Chromebooks to the homes of five teens who will use the computers to continue their education at home.

“Paolo and the Cape Verdean Association are working around the clock under extremely difficult circumstances, making sure people are getting food, medical testing and other essential services,” said Whalen. “City Kids and City Realty are proud to partner with him to help make it possible for kids to continue to learn and be engaged at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Each year, City Kids funds and hosts a Surf Camp at Hampton Beach to support the Teen Center at St. Peter’s Church and the Cape Verdean Association of Boston.
