January 11, 2013 - Rhode Island

Gregory Skoutas, CCIM, Newport Fed

The Rhode Island General Assembly is back in session and the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors will be promoting efforts to pass legislation to protect broker commissions on commercial transactions.
According to the National Association of Realtors commercial division, 29 states have broker lien rights across the nation. Jan Hope, vice president of NAR Commercial, located in Chicago, Illinois was quick to stress that the initiative is all about professionalism and raising the standards of practice in the commercial field - it's not just about compensation.
Legislative advocacy is the foundation of our collective voice in the industry. The Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board is pleased to hear your comments. We can be reached at [email protected].
