Community Associations Institute provides resources to New England

Wellesley, MA The New England chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI) is one of more than 60 national and international chapters with a total combined membership exceeding 34,000 condominium board members, managers and the professionals who work with them. The New England chapter with members in the chapter states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont provides local educational programming and resources as well as online training and digital issue of its popular publication Condo Media magazine. According to a 2015 CAI national and state statistical review, it is estimated that more than 21% of the U.S. population resides in a community association with more than 342,000 community associations nationwide and 20,000 community associations in New England alone. 

CAI Resources
CAI serves homeowners, community associations, board members and managers as well as other industry professionals by:
• Advancing excellence through seminars, workshops, conferences and educational programs that often lead to professional designations for managers as well as vendors and other industry service providers.
• Publishing the largest collection of resources available on community association management and governance, including website content, books, guides, Condo Media and Common Ground magazines as well as specialized newsletters.
•Advocating on behalf of common-interest communities and industry professionals before legislatures, regulatory bodies, and the courts.
• Conducting research and serving as an international clearinghouse for information, innovations and best practices in community association development, governance and management.

Designations and Credentials
CAI grants professional designations to community association managers including Association Management Specialist (AMS), Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM), Accredited Association Management Company (AAMC), Reserve Specialist (RS), Large-Scale Manager (LSM), and Community Insurance Risk Management Specialist (CIRMS). 

CAMICB (Community Association Managers International Certification Board) ensures that community association managers practice with professionalism, integrity and knowledge, and administers the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) certification program, the only internationally accredited certification program in the field

Government & Public Affairs
Each year thousands of pieces of state legislation are filed that impact community associations and are designed to control, regulate or micromanage community associations. Legislative Action Committees (LACs) in each chapter state work to ensure that the voice of community associations is heard. LAC volunteer advocates work with CAI staff to represent CAI members and actively participate in state legislative and regulatory processes on the local, state and federal level.

Opportunities for Business Partners
A wide variety of opportunities offer industry service providers the chance to increase their visibility and connect with potential clients on a local, state and/or national level. Business partners serve on CAI boards and committees, and are often called upon to speak at educational programs or as a source for chapter publication articles. In addition, advertising, exhibit and sponsorship opportunities can reach important industry decision makers.
