Connecticut Department of Construction Services update

October 18, 2012 - Connecticut
The 2013 Legislative Session begins in January, with many of the state agencies are busy in the fall preparing proposals for possible introduction.
At the CT Department of Construction Services, there is mention of legislation that could reduce the project interview panel from 5 to at least 3 for projects under $5 million. There may also be recommendations from the School Building Projects Advisory Council following their public hearings with regards to cost per s/f of school projects in CT. The Council was created with a statute from the 2012 session. In addition, CT DCS is interested in the construction industry comments about the agency's proposed A/E fee schedule change.
The reason for the revision to account for the greater use of BIM that reduces the number of change orders and conflicts over project coordination documents while the project is being constructed. Please review the current and proposed fee.
