Bridgeport, CT In the spirit of the season, the Connecticut/Western Massachusetts SIOR chapter celebrated with two parties – a Habitat for Humanity volunteer work day to give back to the community and the always well attended December holiday meeting.
Several members of the chapter recently volunteered in a Habitat for Humanity work party. Family members and associates from CBRE’s Stamford office also joined SIORs framing the second floor of a new Habitat for Hero’s home under construction in a residential neighborhood, located less than two miles from Habitat’s Bridgeport warehouse at 1470 Barnum Ave. Slated for a spring 2016 completion, a deserving veteran will be the proud owner of the new Habitat home. The day was filled with sunny late fall weather contributing to the SIOR’s production in completing the entire second floor framing and panel assembly work. Everyone who participated had a great deal of fun working together, and left with the satisfaction knowing the Bridgeport Habitat home was much closer to completion.
The holiday chapter meeting and dinner was held at the Woodway Country Club in Darien. Every year the chapter’s December meeting is a festive and popular event, and this year’s get-together in Darien was no exception. Approximately 30 members, guests, and sponsors were in attendance for the quarterly meeting with a networking session over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and dinner. The chapter was delighted to have sponsors join them from Bank of America, Claris Construction, Community Investment Corporation, Godfrey Hoffman Associates, Zuvic-Carr & Associates, and RD Scinto, Inc.
Rob Scinto was acknowledged for being named a new associate member of SIOR. The chapter also recognized Michael Guidicelli for earning the prestigious SIOR designation, acknowledging his rise from a candidate member to a full active office member.
Although the evening’s agenda was supposed to include bowling, time ran short following the meeting and dinner. All in attendance were too busy enjoying the comradery, a delicious dinner, and sharing their successes, as well as, personal and professional challenges over the past year.
