Consigli Construction, Skanska USA and Symmes, Maini & McKee break ground on Winchester High

Consigli Construction Co., Inc. broke ground yesterday for the 280,000 s/f reconstruction of Winchester High School in partnership with architects Symmes, Maini & McKee Associates (SMMA) and project managers Skanska USA Building, Inc. The groundbreaking follows an almost two-year feasibility study led by the Winchester Education Facilities Planning and Building Committee (EFPBC). The rebuild of Winchester High School will address three critical needs: an increasing enrollment of 200 students within the next five years; an obsolete building infrastructure; and an educational program whose needs are no longer supported by the current physical environment. "We are proud to build this transformational project that will result in a new expanded, modern and efficient high school serving Winchester students for many years to come," said Jeffrey Navin, Consigli project executive. Construction will occur in three 14-month phases with an overlap of activities during the summer when students and staff are not in the building. The completed Winchester High is expected to be ready for students by the start of the school year in 2017. "The Winchester High School community is eager to see a reconstructed Winchester High School that will match our community commitment to educational values," said William McAlduff, superintendent of schools.
