Storrs, CT The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) has named the recipients of scholarships for the Spring 2020 semester at the University of Connecticut (UCONN). A total of $18,972 was awarded to six deserving UCONN students, all majoring in Real Estate and Urban Economics and all on the Dean’s List.
The scholarship recipients are Katie Hillowe, Jason Alaska, Cassie Cicalis, Julia Simics, Kristina Kasper, and Alex Bottazi.
The UCONN Real Estate Center scholarships are funded from the chapter sponsored Samuel F. Pierson and Carl F. Traub scholarships, with matching dollars provided by The SIOR Foundation.
The chapter is proud of its long relationship with the Real Estate Center at UCONN. In memory of former members, Sam Pierson and Carl Traub, the chapter has two scholarships in place that have funded awards to deserving UCONN students majoring in Real Estate for more than two decades. More recently the chapter’s scholarships have been enhanced with additional funds from SIOR Foundation, whose purpose is to give back to the commercial real estate community by supporting initiatives that educate, enhance, and expand the industry by promoting best practices and educating the next generation of professionals.
The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter is one of 48 chapters of the prestigious international organization, the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Commercial real estate professionals must meet rigorous requirements to earn the SIOR designation. SIOR, founded in 1941, has over 3,200 members in 685 markets located in 36 countries. SIOR represents today’s most knowledgeable, experienced, and successful commercial real estate brokerage specialists. The SIOR designation stands unchallenged for excellence in the performance of real estate services, and is universally recognized as the prerequisite in the selection of a commercial real estate broker, agent, or consultant.
