Flynn Auctions sells five city owned properties for city of Brockton

The city of Brockton retained the services of Flynn Auctions to auction off five city owned properties located at 155 Crescent St., 74 Martland Ave., 755 North Main St., 547 Main St. and 32 Shaw Rd. This was the third time the city has paired up with Flynn, proving that the third time's a charm. Each municipal auction Flynn has conducted, on behalf of the city, has been successful in bringing revenue into the city for properties that would otherwise have remained a financial obligation. The city's treasurer, Martin Brophy, was pleased with the overall outcome. The combined auctions will bring in over $310,000 for the city. The day's auctions began at 155 Crescent Street with auctioneer, Dan Flynn, at the helm. With four registered bidders, the calling began promptly at 10:00 AM. The commercial building, vacant for some time, was won with a high bid of $117,000. The second property on the block was a two-family residence at 74 Martland Avenue. The activity continued to heat up with a group of thirteen bidders, some newly registered and some who registered at the first auction. The next two properties were two commercially zoned lots. Among those bidding, were local business owners whose property abuts each respective lot. Both vacant land parcels were won by abutting business owners for a combined amount of $80,000. The final auction of the day was a single-family residence located on Brockton's west side bordering Easton. With twenty-one registered bidders, the crowd listened as Auctioneer Dan Flynn welcomed and thanked everyone for attending and began the bid calling. Things moved quickly with five interested parties aggressively outbidding each other until there were two remaining. The cold of the day certainly didn't hinder any spirits, or the auctioneer, who kept a rapid fire pace until the highest bidder won. "This is a great opportunity to buy real estate in today's market," remarked Mr. Flynn as he introduced the city's attorney to the winning bidder.
