Fairfield, CT On April 22, Gilbane Building Company joined local dignitaries, Fairfield University president, Jeffrey P. von Arx and officials, faculty and an enthusiastic group of students and supporters to celebrate the breaking of ground.

The new four-story, Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies will serve as a cohesive center of educational excellence. The new facility will feature clinical learning and simulation centers, replicating hospital and clinic settings for enhanced practical learning, as well as immersive modern learning laboratories and active learning classrooms. The new school will also encompass a new training center for end-of-life care, the Kanarek Center for Palliative and Supportive Nursing Education.   Completion of the facility is projected for the fall of 2017.

“Our relationship with Fairfield University dates back more than 15 years,”  said John Hawley, vice president and Connecticut Business Unit Leader.  “Having recently completed the Rafferty Stadium project, we understand the University’s commitment to the safety and well-being of the campus community.   Our team will continue to ensure the highest priority is placed on student and faculty protection and safety during construction.  We are thrilled to again support Fairfield University on this exciting project.”
