HMFH Architects held a groundbreaking for the 74,000 s/f expansion and renovation of the Foxborough Regional Charter School (FRCS).
Located at 131 Central St. on a 10+ acre site, the school's expansion includes the addition of 21 new full-sized classrooms, three science labs and a computer classroom to the high school building, as well as a new administration and programming area and a new double gymnasium. The new classrooms will allow the removal of modular classrooms and offices. Major renovations to the school include the transformation of the current auditorium into a new media center and the cafeteria/gym into a new state-of-the-art cafeteria with a separate music/stage/performance area.

The use of displacement ventilation offers the best acoustical environment for learning and best indoor air quality in classrooms as well as achieving high energy efficiency and low maintenance for the school." said Chin Lin, AIA LEED AP senior associate at HMFH.
A public college preparatory school, FRCS enrolls up to 1,200 students in grades K-12 from 20 surrounding communities.
All construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012. Agostini Bacon is the contractor.
