Horizon Logistics completes 110,000 s/f HQ relocation to 90 Salem Road, Billerica

Horizon Logistics recently completed their North American headquarters' relocation to 90 Salem Rd. Horizon, a 3rd party logistics and warehousing company, was previously located at 110 Commerce Way in Woburn. "Horizon has experienced tremendous growth in the past year which required us to relocate," said George Schindler, Horizon's president. "The new facility is world class and state of the art distribution space and will be an ideal location for our customers," Schindler continued. The building, which previously housed grocery chain Purity Supreme, will double the capacity for Horizon's business. The 110,000 s/f facility boasts 35 ft. clear ceilings and will be the new home for Horizon clients such as Pfizer, Raytheon and Millipore. Horizon has also just secured a 200,000 s/f distribution center in Linden, N.J. This will also greatly increase its current N.J. footprint. They are in the process of moving to this brand new facility located at 55 Wildcat Way. Their current facility is approximately 105,000 s/f, located in Elizabeth, N.J. New Jersey customers include Satelite Logistics and Sterling Trans Services. Additionally, Horizon occupies space in Boston, (Readville) - approximately 50,000 s/f for their CSX rail customers. This cross-dock facility is ideally suited for inbound rail customers. "Our new facilities are not only much larger than previous ones but are far more user friendly and modern," said Schindler who went on to say that their logistics business in New England has tripled in revenue while the New Jersey business has doubled in the past twelve months. The company attributes the substantial growth to new, national customers as well as the influx of activity at the seaports they service. "The fact that we are now one of the largest logistics providers in the northeast is very exciting. Considering the difficult economic climate across the U.S., we are very proud and excited about what the future holds in store for us," said Schindler. Dacon Corporation was contracted for the office build out at Horizon while systems integrator, The Beacon Group, provided all of the industrial engineering services as well as the material handling equipment. Additionally, facility management firm, BFMS, performed several building upgrades including sprinklers, lighting and electrical systems.
