IREM president’s message: Global Summit in Chicago

The IREM Boston Chapter had the opportunity to attend the IREM Global Summit in Chicago on Oct. 10 -13 with close to 900 members from the U.S. and International Chapters. The summit was packed with educational sessions, leadership forums, and keynote speakers. The evening events consisted of regional dinners, IREM Foundation Party with a Purpose, and IREM Inaugural Gala Dinner and REME Awards.

The Boston Chapter received an award from the IREM Foundation for the largest total member contribution for the 2016/2017 Annual Appeal. The Institute of Real Estate Management Foundation (IREM Foundation), was established in 1977, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public foundation. The Foundation is a resource for people and organizations seeking to advance the profession of real estate management. The IREM Foundation supports initiatives developed or endorsed by IREM that increases diversity, the engagement of young professionals, and expansion of industry knowledge.

Longtime member Larry Johnson, CPM, received an award from the Foundation – Llyod D. Hanford, Sr. Distinguished Instructor Award – the award recognizes an IREM instructor who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the advancement of professional education in the real estate management industry.

The REME Awards are as follows:

• Corporate Innovation: SL Green Realty Corp.

• Corporate and Social Responsibility: Conifer Realty, AMO

• Employee and Leadership Development: JLL

• Sustainability Programs within Workplace Environment: National Community Renaissance

• AMO of the Year: Founders 3, AMO

•  ARM of the Year: Paul Petrulis, ARM

• CPM of the Year: Patricia Hutchison, CPM.

The Chapter will be hosting its Annual Presidential Gala and Awards night, Landscape Contest and new member installation on November 9 at Venezia Waterfront Restaurant in Dorchester.
