Maggiore Construction Corp. begins construction on the first Monarch Homes Assisted Living facility

Maggiore Construction Corp. began construction earlier this month on the first Monarch Homes Assisted Living (MHAL) facility. The residence is a 35-bed assisted living facility dedicated to those with memory impairment. It is located at 857 Main St. on property purchased from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese. MHAL is a joint venture between Maggiore Companies and David Errico of Winchester. Maggiore's CEO Paul Maggiore, also a Winchester resident, was initially approached by Errico to provide design-build services for his vision to develop assisted living residences, specifically designed for individuals with Alzhemer's and other forms of dementia. After two years in the design process, Errico and Maggiore decided to join forces, teaming Errico's more than 20 years of experience in the assisted living industry with Maggiore's almost 40 years of expertise in design, development and construction. "We met numerous times to insure that our design was perfect," said Maggiore, whose father was only in his late fifties when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. "At each meeting, I would ask Dave with whom he intended to partner in order to bring his dream, something which was close to my heart, to fruition." Once the design process was complete Errico invited Maggiore into the venture. "I gained a comfort level with Paul, Dave Mann, director of construction for Maggiore Construction, and Maggiore's in-house design staff. We worked well together on the numerous design changes which prompted my decision for the joint venture." The new facility should be ready for occupancy in late October. Financing for a second facility to be located in Weymouth was secured just last week and final plan preparation has begun, with construction for the 52-bed project slated to begin late this autumn. Future plans call for additional Monarch Home's memory care residences to be developed throughout greater Boston and New England. Steven Braese of Braese Associates represented the Archdiocese in the land sale. Rockport Mortgage Corp. secured financing for the project. The design of the facility was completed by Maggiore's in-house team and Henry Schadler Associates, PC of Farmington, Conn.
