Margolis of J Barrett & Co. sells landmark Wyoma Square Business

Wyoma Square, 290 Broadway - Lynn, MA

Lynn, MA Vice president and Realtor Joel Margolis of J Barrett & Company sold the Walgreens building at 290 Bdwy.

A fixture in Wyoma Square for several decades, the Walgreens building was constructed in the early 1990’ on the site of the former Dairy Queen. The current building, sited on 26,794 s/f of land, has a total area of 9,227 s/f. When the building was constructed, Walgreens purchased a 50-year ground lease. Currently 15 years remain on the leasehold.

Margolis is highly respected for his knowledge of residential and commercial real estate as well as his numerous successful transactions over the past 40 years. In 2025, Margolis sold a commercial condominium on the site of the Beverly Hospital complex and a 5,000 s/f condominium in Groveland.

In addition to recent restaurant sales in Beverly and Peabody, Margolis has helped owners lease many commercial spaces throughout the North Shore.

“Joel is especially skilled at helping clients navigate the nuances of buying and selling both commercial and residential properties,” said Jon Gray, president, J Barrett & Company. “Joel’s lengthy list of referrals reflects his exemplary reputation in the real estate industry and among his many clients. This is simply his latest achievement, and we look forward to many more.”

The name “Wyoma” was given to this section of the city by Alonzo Lewis when he wrote the original History of Lynn in 1844. No one is sure where the name originated, although some speculate that the author just made it up.

The official name is Curtis Square, named for deceased World War I veteran Frederick Curtis.
