MBREA hosts “Breakfast with the Experts: Best Practices Series - Reviewing your Report”

Norwood, MA MBREA - the organization for valuation professionals - hosted “Breakfast with the Experts: Best Practices Series - Reviewing your Report (Before it goes out the Door),” another presentation in MBREA’s ongoing mission to put cutting edge appraisal issues in front of appraisers and appraisal users. The program was held at the Sheraton Four Points in Norwood. The panel consisted of Jonathan Asker, RA; Gary Minnehan, RA; William Pastuszek, MRA, who also moderated the panel, and Steven Spangle, MRA. Steve Sousa, the executive director of MBREA introduced the program.

The panel of seasoned appraisers, including commercial and residential solo practitioners and appraisal company managers, shared best practices and procedures for reviewing work before it is sent to the client and suggestions for effective report writing. The program was well attended and lively discussions took place.

Some of the specific report review practices covered included: Consistency and logic, spelling & grammar checks, verifying mathematical calculations, dangers of cloning, creating effective templates, addendum contents and completeness including photos and exhibits, technological solutions, appraisal software scrubbers and reviewer concerns.
