McGee named principal of CBT Architects

Jacqueline McGee, a 20-year design industry veteran, has been promoted to principal at CBT Architects after a decade at the firm. Prior to her promotion, McGee served as the seniorinterior designer. The promotion of McGee to principal represents the continuing expansion of the hospitality and high-end residential division within CBT. As principal, McGee will expand and further refine the exceptional work and high-quality services offered by CBT. Her previous design work in film and televisions allows her to blend traditional and contemporary design techniques to create interiors that are sophisticated, innovative and distinct. When McGee began her career at CBT in 2004, she saw a unique opportunity to expand CBT into a division that would strengthen the company overall. McGee's progressive design ideas have allowed CBT to utilize her expertise to meet the needs of all clients, not only those in the hospitality division. Under McGee's guidance, CBT is now on the forefront of hospitality design and has completed award-winning projects such as the Boston Langham and Hotel Indigo. "Jaqueline was a natural fit for CBT 10 years ago and this appointment to Principal only further solidifies her as a leader, now and in years to come," said Richard Bertman, FAIA LEED AP and Principal at CBT. "I am confident that like many of our emerging leaders, Jacqueline will carry CBT into the future and will continue to be a valuable asset to the firm." McGee oversees a department of 15 interior designers and architects. She is currently working on 31 different projects, including interior design work in DC at the Sofitel and a few of the Kimpton's Washington DC hotels including The George and Donovan House; in Chicago at the Hotel Sax and Sofitel, in Boston at the Liberty and Seaport Hotels, as well as the Sofitel New York, Sofitel Philadelphia, PGA Resort and Spa in Florida and Le Meridien Cambridge. "Jacqueline has a keen eye for design and the unique ability to transform a space," said Joanna Zook, vice president of Asset Management, LaSalle Hotel Properties. "We've worked with Jacqueline on a number of projects and each time, she has given each space a distinctive personality." McGee, a London native, graduated from Central School of Art and Design at London University with a degree in Theatre/Film Design. She came to the United States to work for BBC Television as an Art Director. "When I joined CBT 10 years ago, I saw a great opportunity to expand their service offerings and infuse interior design into all project types," said McGee. "I look forward to continuing to create and rejuvenate spaces that are innovative, timeless and beautiful."
