MEC Electrical Contractors, Inc., a full service electrical contractor headquartered in Chelmsford, has been selected to perform the electrical system survey and upgrade project for Lowell General Hospital. The success of this project paves the way for the future expansion of Lowell General Hospital (LGH) in its vision to be one of the best community hospitals in America.
This extensive electrical project consists of the installation of new duct banks, 5kv cabling, terminations, switch gear and generator for two new services which will feed the main campus. In addition to the new services, an entirely new 5kv/480 volt normal and emergency distribution system consisting of switchboards, paralleling boards, distribution panels, pad mount transformers, conduits, cable and over three miles of M.I. fire rated cabling is being installed throughout the existing buildings. MEC works closely with LGH personnel on an ongoing basis to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors paying strict attention to detail during all aspects of the project.
MEC is not only performing the electrical portion of the project, they are also the prime contractor for the project and are responsible for the coordination, scheduling, installation and completion of the work required by various trades. The scope includes but is not limited to excavation, paving, demolition, concrete work, HVAC, plumbing, rigging, fire protection and roofing.
