Reading, MA The final touches have been applied by Nauset Construction to The Postmark, a mixed-use complex developed by DiBiase Homes and Matrix Property Group. Nauset constructed 50 residential units – which were 90% pre-sold – and preserved the façade of the historic 1918 U.S. post office while transforming the century-old building into 8,000 s/f of commercial space that will feature a ground floor restaurant. Located at the junction of Haven and Sanborn Sts. in the downtown commercial business district, The Postmark is just steps away from the MBTA Commuter Rail Haverhill Line.

The Development Team and O’Sullivan Architects of Reading worked closely with the Massachusetts and Reading Historical Commissions to create a design that preserves the Georgian Revival style façade and Corinthian columns, as well as the exterior curved stairways at the front entrance. The five-story contemporary-style residential addition was constructed using a combination of brick and stone at the base and clapboard siding and wood details to replicate the classic character of the original post office. The one- and two-bedroom condominium homes feature open floor plans, designer-curated luxury finishes, an abundance of natural light and energy efficient appliances. Homeowners enter The Postpark through a dedicated and professionally landscaped courtyard and have access to an expansive common amenity space, a private gym, and a large resident-only roof deck located on the 5th floor penthouse level.

Nauset Construction’s extensive experience with historic renovation projects and expertise in constructing midsized multifamily projects in busy downtown locations was vital to the success of the project. “The Postmark showcases two of Nauset Construction’s greatest strengths – urban infill multifamily construction and the thoughtful restoration and repurposing of historically significant structures,” said Nauset Construction president Anthony Papantonis.

DiBiase Homes has vast experience permitting, developing, and building new, residential, for-sale homes throughout the Greater Boston area. “The Postmark offers new homeowners a unique level of urban luxury living, within a classic suburban downtown, while embracing and restoring the iconic architectural character of the original 1918 United States post office,” said DiBiase Homes president and CEO Paul DiBiase.
