Northbridge Companies breaks ground on senior living homes in The Pinehills: Callahan to build 87,330 s/f Laurelwood at the Pinehills

The Northbridge Companies, broke ground on 80 new residences at Laurelwood at The Pinehills. Laurelwood's apartments offer independent, assisted and memory-care living options. Northbridge, which also owns and operates Stafford Hill senior living, plans to open Laurelwood at The Pinehills in the spring of 2015. "Laurelwood will be a wonderful addition to the broad range of housing choices already available at The Pinehills which range from younger families to empty nesters who are juggling busy work schedules and even busier lifestyles. Introducing apartments, that for the first time, offer independent, assisted, and memory care living brings yet another new housing choice to award-winning Pinehills and broadens the strong sense of community," said Tony Green, managing partner, Pinehills LLC. Laurelwood, located at the corner of Landmark and Golf Drs. near the village green, features a New England gambrel roof, a warm Cape Cod design, available underground parking, patios, a theater room, library, pub and many other amenities. A walking trail connects Laurelwood to the Village Green, Mirbeau Inn & Spa and Village Racquet and Fitness Club. "We conducted focus groups with a broad age range of current residents at The Pinehills and realized there was both need and desire for this sort of housing. Residents feel such a connection to The Pinehills and want to know that they can bring their parents or continue living there independently or with assistance well into their senior years," said Wendy Nowokunski, president of Northbridge Cos. Several Pinehills residents attended the ground breaking ceremony, along with the management teams from The Pinehills and Northbridge, Plymouth town officials, and representatives from Callahan Construction, BSC Group Engineers, and TAT (The Architectural Team). Callahan Construction will construct the 87,330 s/f building. This comes as Mirbeau Inn & Spa is under construction at The Pinehills adjacent to Laurelwood -expected to open in the spring of 2014. "I find that Northbridge is going to be another great addition for The Pinehills," said Paul McAlduff, Plymouth planning board chair. "I have been watching The Pinehills grow since its infancy and personally had great expectations for what was going to happen. Everything they envisioned and told us was going to happen has happened. They have been very positive for the town of Plymouth and I wish them the best in their future growth." Northbridge will bring its signature programs to Laurelwood, many of which emphasize sustainability. Through the Eat Fresh-Eat Local program, Laurelwood at The Pinehills will source food from local farms, seafood purveyors and vineyards. The "Senior Green" program employs energy conservation and protection of natural resources in operations. Laurelwood will also offer a suite of amenities, including Northbridge's signature "Brain Gym", an innovative computer-based "mind fitness" program. In addition to keeping the mind sharp, the touch screen program allows residents to stay connected to family and friends.
