123 Great Pond Drive - Windsor, CT

Emhart Glass is a combination office and heavy industrial facility with a two-story office area totaling 16,000 s/f attached to a bottling equipment research and development facility.
Emhart Glass manufactures glass bottle forming machines, and has constructed this pilot plant for ongoing manufacturing research. The total project building area is 60,000 s/f.
Dacon Corp. was the designer/builder for the project.
This unique manufacturing facility, located at 123 Great Pond Dr., is constructed integrally with a massive firing oven, capable of reaching 3200 degrees Fahrenheit. The oven is used to prepare glass ingots, which are then directed to forming machines and cooling apparatus. It is located at the "hot end" of the building, which consists of about 30,000 s/f and is a three-story high space with a 55-foot deck height intersected with various process mezzanines.
Exterior walls and roofing systems contain intake and exhaust louvers for gravity ventilation, and are specially designed for expansion and heat exhaust. The "cold end" is more typical space and is about 24-feet high to the roof deck to accommodate bottle cooling equipment. The cold end also contains quality control laboratories.

Dacon Corp. is a design-build firm located in Natick, Mass. Other Conn. projects include Homegoods Distribution Center (TJX Co.) in Bloomfield; Iron Mountain Record Storage Complex in Windsor; Zygo Corp. in Middlefield; and Fed Ex Ground in Willimantic.
