Two key projects receive approval from the commission for the I-195 Redevelopment District

Providence, RI At its October 16th meeting, the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission voted to give design review approval to two projects: The proposed Truth Box, Inc. and D+P Real Estate development on parcel 6 and the proposed Exeter Property Group Urban development on parcel 28.

The proposed D+P Real Estate and Truth Box, Inc. development on parcel 6 is located on the east side of the District (bordered by Wickenden, South Water, and South Main, and Pike Sts.). The mixed-use development will include a13,000 s/f grocery store, 10,000 s/f of commercial and retail space, and 62 housing units. Fifty percent of the housing will be workforce housing that is considered affordable to households earning between 80%-120% of the area’s median income. Truth Box and ZDS are the project architects.

The Exeter Property Group Urban project on parcel 28 is located in the center of the district (bordered by Clifford, Richmond, Friendship and Chestnut Sts.). The mixed-use project includes 248 residential units and 22,700 s/f of ground floor retail space. The architects are Torti Gallas and ZDS.

“We are pleased to move forward with these projects and expect to break ground on both of them in 2020,” said Robert Davis, chairman of the commission. “These buildings represent more than $100 million in investment, include approximately 345,000 s/f of space and have workforce housing units.”

The next commission meeting will be this month.
