The New England Expedition-Scarborough, LLC, and Properties Northeast Real Estate have additional leases at the Gateway at Scarborough project, which is anchored by a 125,000 s/f Cabela's World Famous Outfitters store.
Cabela's opened in mid-May and the adjacent stores and restaurants totaling over 33,000 s/f have been coming on line over the past two months. Additional space is available.
Retail outlets in the Gateway Shoppes section of the project include a Kennel Shop Pet Super Store, Art Trends Gallery and Framing, Haven's Candies, and Kitchen and Cork, a kitchen appliance, supply and wine shop featuring Stonewall Kitchen products.
Restaurants include the Portland Pie Restaurant, Henry VIII Carvery Sandwich Shop, Thai 9 Restaurant and Freaky Bean Coffee Shop.
In addition, construction is scheduled to begin on a 6,800 s/f pad for a new Famous Dave's Bar-B-Q Restaurant. A 8,700 s/f Kinder Care day care center will also be under construction in the Gateway Sq. section of the development.
The project is part of an overall development consisting of a total of 75 acres. Phase one, the Gateway Shoppes, features retail and restaurants. Phase two, the Gateway Sq., features office sites, a hotel site, and more retail. The New England Expedition, LLC, is an affiliation of Feldco Development of New Canaan, Conn.. Barry Feldman is managing partner.
Gene Beaudoin, a partner in Feldco, said, "We are pleased to see the predicted drawing power of Cabela's come to fruition. Traffic at exit 42 of I-95, which is adjacent to the site, has jumped by over 20% since the opening. We are beating the trend."
Tony Armstrong, of Properties Northeast, broker for the project, said, "Feldco and the town of Scarborough have a real winner on their hands. Given the level of preliminary inquires for all types of space, we feel we have great momentum."
