RESCOM Architectural designs Hydroid's 40,000 s/f eco-friendly manufacturing facility

Construction is complete on Hydroid Inc.'s new manufacturing facility. The eco-friendly 40,000 s/f building was designed by RESCOM Architectural, Inc. and built by Consigli Construction Co. The building has a contemporary design that maximizes natural light and includes an energy efficient heating and cooling system and a 289 kw solar array. In addition, there is a 6,000 meter rated hyperbaric testing chamber, designed specifically for Hydroid, and a 20-foot deep testing pool. "We are extremely pleased to have been selected as the architectural firm to help Hydroid develop their future. This new facility represents Hydroids commitment to the economic growth on Cape Cod and its sensitivity to the environment. The design of the building has enhanced these commitments and has successfully achieved the project goals of being a state-of the art and eco-friendly manufacturing facility," said Gregory Siroonian, principal of RESCOM. "Throughout the entire design process, it was obvious that RESCOM was equally as committed to creating a building that embodied our ongoing dedication to Cape Cod's environment and economy, as well as meeting our company's growth needs," said Duane Fotheringham, president of Hydroid. "We are very pleased with the new facility and are looking forward to future growth." The facility houses the company's engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance operations. Expansive floor to ceiling windows surround an open layout, with offices in the center of the building, to maximize the use of natural light. Solar panels, located both in the parking lot and on the roof of the building, provide a significant amount of the building's power. RESCOM is in the process of designing a second building for Hydroid. This 10,000 s/f building will house their administrative and business offices. Construction is scheduled to start this year. Hydroid was recently named the southeast division gold winner in the 11th annual Mass. Economic Impact Awards. Designed to recognize excellence in job growth, facility expansion and investment since January 1, 2014, the award celebrates companies that have made outstanding contributions to the state's economy. RESCOM is located in Bourne. The architectural and planning firm helps prepare its clients for the future. The firm has developed expertise in the healthcare, corporate science/technology industries since 1997. RESCOM's culture for interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing and design investigation enables its clients to achieve success with responsive, innovative and sustainable design.
