Safety Roundtable to be held Jan. 25

January 13, 2010 - Construction Design & Engineering
OSHA has stepped up its enforcement efforts during the past year, with special focus on the construction industry. Now, under the newly appointed OSHA director, Dr. David Michaels - a public health expert - enforcement is taking a new turn, targeting health hazards on the jobsite in addition to traditional safety hazards. This timely topic will be the subject of ASM's next Safety Roundtable, on January 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Eastern Insurance in Framingham.
Our speaker, Jean Manoli, of the Mass. Division of Occupational Safety, will cover the health hazards that are now the focus of attention, including asbestos, cadmium, carbon monoxide and a host of other contaminants. She will give examples of typical construction tasks where these hazards can be found, and explain how to control or eliminate them, in order to protect workers and avoid OSHA citations.
The roundtable is free and open to all subcontractors. Visit the ASM website to register.
