Sargent Electric Co.’s utilities group expands Maine operations

Lewiston, ME Sargent Electric Company, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, has expanded its Northern New England footprint as its utilities division and commercial & industrial (C&I) group moved into the firm’s new 13,000 s/f Northeast regional branch office in Lewiston, in early 2021. Among the largest utility electrical contractors in the U.S., Sargent Electric joined the NECA Boston Chapter/Maine Division in late 2020. The company’s satellite office in Hermon, ME supports projects in Greater Bangor, Northern Maine, and the Downeast region.

Sargent Electric delivers comprehensive electrical construction and tel-data services to projects in diverse market sectors, including utility, power generation, utility, infrastructure, commercial, and storm restoration. Their capabilities also encompass advanced solutions for emerging technologies in renewable energy, battery storage and 5G wireless.

Prominent recently completed projects in Maine include the electrical service upgrade at Acadia National Park for the National Park Service; the 7MW Belfast, Maine community solar project and 7MW China, Maine solar project.

Sargent also was awarded several AC segments of the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) Avangrid power line conversion project in which a 145-mile power transmission line imports and will convert renewably produced hydro-electric power from Quebec, Canada to the New England power grid via a junction in Maine. The project is scheduled to begin in late spring 2021.
