Vertical housing in suburban markets: The time is now - by Brent Maugel

As a young architectural student, I remember reading Latvian-American architect Gunnar Birkerts’ urban planning book Process and Expression in Architectural Form. In the book, Birkerts encouraged maximizing the height of space above the ground plane, as well as the depth of space below the ground plane. The concept created a vertical stacking where people interaction spaces lived above ground and the non-interactive, unsightly spaces were located below; it would be a utopian built environment where all movements of utilities, trash, and vehicles would never see the light of day.

Located on an eight-acre site next to Schooner Estates, a senior living community on Stetson Rd, this new 47,600 s/f facility specializes in memory care and assisted living.  Designed by Gawron Turgeon Architects, the 66-unit facility features private and semi-private apartments in three 22-bed neighborhoods.

Green Leaf Construction begins office fit-up for Acton Medical
