Surus Development & Construction, LLC breaks ground on 120,000 s/f self-storage facility for Jumbo Capital Management, LLC

Burlington, MA Surus Development & Construction, LLC has broken ground on a new 120,000 s/f self-storage facility for affiliated company, Jumbo Capital Management, LLC. The project, financed by Cambridge Savings Bank, represents the fifth such facility developed by Jumbo and the first with ground-up construction managed by Surus. 

Barkan Management expands portfolio in southeastern New England with two new contracts

Plymouth, MA Barkan Management Company has secured management contracts for two communities in southeastern New England. Starting November 1st, Barkan will provide financial services for Louisquisett Country Club condominium association, a 409-unit community in North Providence, R.I. They will also provide the full spectrum of management services to Boatwright’s Loop District landowner’s association, an 82-unit townhome and single home community within The Pinehills, in Plymouth. 

Encore Boston Harbor workers vote to join IBEW Local 103 with 95% yes vote

Everett, MA The 127 technical and maintenance workers at Encore Boston Harbor have voted to become members of IBEW Local 103. Some of the job titles at the casino that participated in the vote include slot machine technicians, A/V technicians, electricians and fire control center dispatchers. The vote was 95% yes in favor of forming the union.

Mio apartments in Weymouth now leasing

Weymouth, MA Leasing is now underway at the new Mio apartments, with occupancy on the first units was slated for mid-October. The transit-oriented property is located at 39 Trotter Rd., near the Commuter Rail and with access to Rte. 18. A joint project of Marcus Partners and John M. Corcoran and Company, the new apartments feature best-in-class amenities, contemporary design and ample outdoor space.

Callahan Construction continues work on Bozzuto’s The Abby

Quincy, MA Callahan Construction Managers (Callahan) continues construction at The Abby. The project aims to rejuvenate the city by redeveloping a bus depot and parking lot into a multi property complex featuring luxury apartments, retail space, and a new parking garage. The project is designed by ICON Architecture and is owned and developed by Bozzuto.

LAN-TEL completes security project for MA Office of Chief Medical Examiner

Fitchburg, MA In May, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) set up a temporary morgue at Fitchburg State University’s Landry Hall in preparation for the potential surge in COVID-19 deaths. NECA Boston chapter contractor, LAN-TEL Communications was called upon to design and install a CCTV video security solution for the facility.

Office Gallery International completes ongoing design projects for eCratchit, Inc.

Hingham, MA Office Gallery International completed the latest of a series of ongoing office design and furniture projects for eCratchit, Inc.  eCratchit and Office Gallery are working on their third project together – coming up with a better solution for the placement of three printers and a scanner, which are currently sitting on filing cabinets. This comes on the heels of the completion of rebuilding a small empty space into a tiny – but still effective – conference room, which is known as “the Fishbowl” because of its glass walls.
