According to the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association (MMBA) board of directors, they have hired a new executive director, Deborah Sousa.
Sousa previously served as the director of education and event planning for the association from 2005 to 2010. She was instrumental in the development and implementation of Loan Originator licensing education courses approved by the Division of Banks and subsequently the NMLS. While with the association, Sousa coordinated the New England Mortgage Banking Conference and was involved with all other aspects of the association including membership and compliance as well as grant and fundraising activities for the MMB Foundation.
Sousa has held various positions throughout her 30 year career in the mortgage banking industry with various positions at BayBank, Bank of Boston, Credit Data of New England, Cambridge Savings Bank and Sherwood Mortgage. She currently is the business develop management at Fairway Independent Mortgage.
The combination of her mortgage banking background, association management skill, and her dedication to the association make her the ideal person to assume the reigns as executive director.
She will be back to the MMBA in her new role on November 28th.
