As chapter president, we enhanced the Education Committee for the chapter through the development of the Candidate Guidance Committee. This committee identified certified property management candidates that were one-step away from receiving their CPM designation. With the committee, we successfully assisted those members in their efforts to become certified. The chapter held the necessary courses by bringing in a national faculty member to teach the asset management track. By the end of the year, we awarded more than ten new CPM designations at our year-end celebration.
Secondly, the chapter was presented the Silver Award, Group 6 (more than 190 CPM members) for Chapter of the Year. In recognition of outstanding achievements which advance the professionalism and development of the Institute of Real Estate Management.
As the regional vice president, for Region 1, we were able to lead the New England Region and bring together the chapters for a meaningful learning experience in my first year. Prior to my tenure, as RVP the attendance for our regional education offering was reduced. We would have five to ten participants attending the Sturbridge, CT offering. However, the first year of my tenure our Regional Conference, held in Providence, R.I., was well attended for the two-day session. The attendance from the state housing finance authorities was well over seventy additional participants on day one, and line officers from each chapter-attending day two made that education offering the best in many years.
