Torrance of PB honored by Institute of Transportation Engineers with Young Pro Scholarship Award

Kristen Torrance, a traffic engineer, has been selected by the ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers) to receive a Young Professional Scholarship Award. Torrance was selected by the ITE Transportation Consultant Council to receive a Young Professional Scholarship Award to the ITE 2010 Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, August 8-11. She received $1,000 for all expenses to the conference and recognition at the annual meeting, in the ITE Journal and in the Transportation Consultants' Council newsletter. Torrance is also presenting a paper at the annual meeting on "Speed Parking for Large Scale Events" that she co-authored with PB's Boston traffic manager, Robert Brooks. Torrance's engineering expertise includes traffic engineering and transportation planning. She has worked on large-scale master plans, site development and intermodal engineering projects. Her experience includes the planning, engineering, and production of documents including traffic modeling, parking master plans, highway and wayfinding signage, roadway and intersection designs, pedestrian and bicycle evaluations, and event operations. Torrance is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Women's Transportation Seminar and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
