URI offering energy-efficiency course

The University of Rhode Island will offer a seven-part course for home and business owners looking for ways to conserve energy. Offered through the school's Energy Center, the subjects include energy use in the community, collaborative initiatives in green building and business, and the latest information on energy legislation, government incentives and policy. Modeled after the URI Master Gardener program and the URI Master Composter & Recycler program, the Master Energy Program will be taught by Robert Cerio, who has more than 25 years of experience as an energy resource manager. Classes will be held twice a week in the evenings starting on Oct. 5 at the university's Providence Campus at 80 Washington St. The course costs $100 and includes an online resource manual and parking. Preregistration is required. Visit www.uri.edu for more information.
