2020 Women in Construction: Cristin Auten, Registered Senior Interior Designer at Friar Architecture
What trends are you seeing in your field this year? For 15 years I have been working on education projects throughout Connecticut. For most of my career, classroom design has been traditional, and included lines of desks and chairs facing the front of the classroom. For the past 8 years +/- I have been hearing about the shift to 21st century classrooms, and learning about the strategies to apply these concepts to both existing buildings and new construction. This year, I am happy to say I am seeing school systems put these new learning environments into place, providing students more opportunities for collaboration, integrated technology, and choices in their learning environments.
