NEXUS A project of The Green Roundtable will hold a case study: The Living Building Challenge & Next-Generation Sustainable Design on April 13 at 52 Broad St.
Buro Happold will present the simulation analysis and sustainability aspects of The Hawaii Preparatory Academy Energy Lab. Designed by Flansburgh Architects, the Energy Lab is a candidate for Living Building Challenge certification, currently in its audit period.
The Living Building Challenge is the most ambitious green building certification program. Certification is achieved by complying with all prerequisites, such as net zero energy and water on an annual basis. A robust set of computational analysis tools were used to help inform the design on optimum building form for effective natural ventilation and daylighting. Results from ongoing post occupancy evaluation will shed light on the iterative design process required for a Living Building.
